I have always loved the fragility of the decaying leaves I often find along my hikes into the Sequoias. There is something so poetic about them, almost like they exist in the space between life and death. From dust they came and it to dust they will return.
Slowly but surely the world begins to eat away at them until all that’s left is their bones. In time, all that will remain is a memory.
For the last several months I have been scouring the wood in search a decaying leaf to quell my burning to desire to turn into a photograph. A constant reminder of this in-between state, the suspension between life and death.
I consider myself blessed to have found one in such pristine condition still clinging to the memory of its former glory. I am beyond excited to share this print with you as I have been dreaming about creating it since I first discovered these little gems over a year ago.
I would love to hear you thoughts, and I hope you enjoy my little reminder of the fragility of life.
Yours truly,
Yanninia Marie
